Automated translation software does not manage well words or phrases specific to specialist subject areas and can produce grammatical and other seemingly ‘simple’ errors that can change the entire meaning of a phrase. Also, there is no certification or recognised standards that apply to machine translations. Further, there is no such thing as privacy when interacting with automated web-based translation services.
